![]() Still, even as it curiously extols family values, no matter how murderous, ''The Last Don'' does recognize that the heyday of the old-fashioned gangster may be over, done in by a younger generation that either wants out or lacks the finesse for anything other than gross thuggery. They're too familiar, from the pontificating patriarch (''The world is what it is, and you are what you are'') to the continuing obsession with food (''Eat first then we talk,'' says the executioner ominously). Puzo's novel, and Joyce Eliason's adaptation, push all the familiar mob-family buttons. CBS is obviously hoping that the magic carries over into the six hours of ''Mario Puzo's 'The Last Don,' '' which begins on Sunday and continues Tuesday and Wednesday. ![]() You want the Mafia?
